we’re pleased you’re here to look around

Three homes, run by people who'll know your name

Rubicon is three small children’s homes on the south coast. The same team across all three, the same way of working, and the same promise – that every young person who comes to live with us will be properly looked after, by people who’ll actually know them.

THREE HOMES, AND ONLY EVER THREE

Small was the whole point

We’re not a chain, we don’t plan to grow, and we’ll never run more than three houses – because once a place gets bigger than that, the things we care about most stop being possible. Three houses means we know every young person properly. Three houses means decisions get made by people who actually know what’s going on. Three houses means nobody falls through the cracks.
The houses don’t have grand names. They’ve got numbers, like any other house on any other street – because that’s what they are. Three real homes, with three front doors, three kettles, three slightly different ways of doing things.

Real homes, not facilities.

Our houses are run by teams of adults whose job is to make sure you’re alright – properly alright, not the kind of alright people say when they don’t really mean it. There’s a kettle on, washing up to do, someone watching telly in the next room. The fridge has actual food in it. There’s probably a sofa cushion that everyone fights over.

You’ll have your own bedroom. The kitchen, living room and garden are shared. We’re close to the beach, parks and shops, with plenty going on if you want to get out and explore.

Each house has space for up to five young people. That’s deliberate. It means nobody gets lost in the noise, and the adults around you have time to actually know you – what makes you laugh, what winds you up, what you like for breakfast.

Our three spaces

3 DOORS. 3 KITCHENS. 1 WAY OF DOING THINGS.

This is what's true of all of them. Each house has its own page where you can read about how it feels to live there, what's nearby, and who you'd meet first.

our approach

Relational, trauma-informed, properly considered.

We use a relational, trauma-informed, team-led therapeutic model. The therapeutic environment is not an addition to the work – it is the work. Young people are supported by a consistent team who provide stability, emotional containment and predictable responses.

We call our practice model Reach & Reflect. Reach is the consistent attunement, the emotional availability, the trust-building. Reflect is the work we do alongside young people when things get difficult – recognising the emotions involved, building skills for self-regulation, and supporting relational repair.

what people say about rubicon

"I just wanted you and your team to know how impressed I am with the progress this young person has made since being at Rubicon. She was almost a different girl - in fact, she was just a girl, and not a patient."

Functional Family Therapy Clinical Lead

"Seeing young people settle and grow is the best part of the job."

About Us

our promise

What we promise to every young person who comes to live with us

We won’t get everything right, all the time. No home does, no parent does, no team does. But these are the things we’ll always try to do – and when we don’t, we’ll say so and try again.
We'll know you properly.
Not just your name and date of birth, but the actual things – what makes you laugh, what winds you up, what you like for breakfast, which films you can’t watch because they make you sad. That’s the job, and the team has time to do it because there are only ever five of you in each house.
We'll help when things are hard.
We won’t try to fix things for you – that doesn’t usually help. But we’ll sit with you while you work them out, and we’ll be there afterwards too. When something feels too big to sort out on your own, you won’t have to.
We'll treat you with respect.
You get a say in how the house runs, how we treat you, and what happens next. Your voice matters in house meetings, in decisions about your room, in the small daily things and the bigger ones. You’re not a number here. You’re someone who matters.
